Dr. Johnson is a native of Athens, Georgia, and attended the University of Georgia majoring in biomedical engineering. While at the University of Georgia he was a football letterman playing safety for the Dawgs. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. During medical school, Dr. Johnson completed a Master of Business Administration at the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. After medical school, Dr. Johnson completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in Ophthalmology at BaylorScott&White in Temple, TX. 

Dr. Johnson has been trained in the latest techniques in cataract and glaucoma surgery, as well as plastic surgery of the eyelids and treatment of diabetes and macular degeneration. During college, he met his wife Grace, who was a national champion gymnast. Now they have three small children. Dr. Johnson has always been active in his church and is very passionate about medical mission work, with multiple trips to Haiti, as well as Ecuador and Honduras. Dr. Johnson considers it a true privilege to work in eye care and especially enjoys the long-term patient-physician relationships ophthalmology affords.
