Drs. Michael and Larry Patterson recently attended the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Annual Meeting in San Diego to learn from and share information with leading eye care professionals across the country.

Dr. Larry Patterson had the honor of introducing speaker Scott Kelly, former military fighter pilot turned astronaut, most recognized for breaking the record for most days spent in space in 2015. Kelly spoke to the President’s Council of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society and grounded his message in the similarities between the processes and procedures he followed in space and the challenges surgeons face on a daily basis.

Dr. Michael Patterson was invited to speak about complications during cataract surgery on behalf of the ASCRS’ YES (Young Eye Surgeons) Clinical Committee, as well as about a novel glaucoma device that can be used to save glaucoma patients’ vision. The YES Committee is comprised of 13 young leaders in ophthalmic care who are pushing forward advancements in eyecare nationwide.

By investing their time and talents into this prestigious event, Drs. Michael and Larry Patterson were able to continue building their network of professional connections that will benefit our practice and our patients for years to come.
