Eye Centers of Tennessee continues to grow and expand! Keeping with our mission of bringing sustainable world class eye-care to the people of the Upper Cumberland, we saw a need for improvement.

It is with great excitement that we announce the addition of Andrew Johnson, M.D. to our team at Eye Centers of Tennessee!

He is from Georgia, but he asked that we don’t hold that against him!

Last week we had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Johnson and hearing some of his background/excitement of relocating to Tennessee.

“I grew up just outside of Athens and attended the University of Georgia majoring in biomedical engineering. While at the University of Georgia I was a football letterman playing safety for the Dawgs.”  Dr. Johnson continues, “I earned my Doctorate of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. During medical school, I also completed a Master of Business Administration at the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.”

After medical school, Dr. Johnson completed his internship in internal medicine and residency in ophthalmology at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, TX.

While all of this is incredibly impressive, we continued talking about his personal life.

“My wife Grace and I have 3 small children, and we really love the area so far! We are both excited to get our kids outside on some local hikes.” 

Dr. Jonson continued, “My wife and I were both active in our past church home and can’t wait to get plugged into a local church and start serving our community.”

We were curious how Dr. Andrew had come to hear about our growth and expansions at ECOTN.

“I met Dr. Michael Patterson while interviewing for residencies at the University of South Carolina/Palmetto Health Systems.

In my last year of residency, we reconnected at an ophthalmology conference and Dr. Patterson was describing the growth Eye Centers of Tennessee was having,” Dr. Johnson explained.

Dr. Johnson is a comprehensive ophthalmologist, and will begin practicing this September at our new location at 999 Guardian Way in Cookeville.
